The secret of an on-time, fabulous wedding...or event..
What I know for sure...
Family comes first, and no matter how we try to ignore that fact, in the end and after all is said and done, and when our friends come and go, all we have is family.
I am starting my blog with this because weddings are the beginning of the family, and for being a part of the beginning of a couple's family is the greatest gift, I as an event planner, can have bestowed on me.
In the entries that follow, I will share some past visions and experiences that I have witnessed, for instance...
What I have observed...
Even people who write books about planning your wedding are really not doing you any favors; don't get me wrong, the pictures are pretty, but if you already have a stressful or hectic life, thinking you can do it yourself, will only add more stress on top of your hectic life. Would you perform surgery on yourself by reading a book? So why plan one of the most important days of your life without a wedding consultant?
Friends are important too...
A story - A couple of years ago, I planned a very important wedding anniversary for myself and my hubby, and on the day of the event, I knew I would have planners at the party. While, I didn't ask, sure enough, a very good friend of mine who happens to be a planner, stepped up to the plate and in one breath said, "Janet, you look like you have everything under control here, do you need any help? Do you have a planner here tonight, because I don't want to step on anyone's toes? I said no; she said, just tell me what to do. I had my timeline on-site and all she had to do was follow it. Knowing that I had someone there who would make sure that all my details went as planned, took a huge weight off my shoulders, and I was able to really enjoy my anniversary celebration -- Thanks Darleen!!
A wedding planner can help you reduce the stress and the cost of your wedding, and find you vendors that can do what you want at a reasonable price, because as a wedding planner, we revisit these vendors time and time again. There are no set prices in the window of a wedding vendor's establishment and as a consultant or planner, the vendor will do his or her utmost to perform their best and give their best price, because they want our repeat business; however, if a single bride walks in their door, they only have to deal with you once and can afford to mess up, because you're just one mistake.
